OVERVIEW:
This light set is an affordable and easy way to make you more visible and safe on the road. Other light prices range from $20 up to $700 so it’s great to get this set for around $60 (as of 8/2011). The lights are battery operated and each have a few different modes. The front light has a “high beam”, “low beam”, and a flashing mode. The rear light has a solid red mode as well as a flashing mode. Both lights mount easily and have a quick-release which allows you to carry them with you or store them easily.
PROS
These little lights do a great job in their main functions of making you more visible and illuminating the road. They won’t illuminate the road as well as some of the more expensive competitors, but at this price range they make an unexpected night ride much safer. Another nice feature on these lights is the quick-release clip. Your mounting hardware stays on your bars or seat post and the lights slide off with a simple click of a lever. This allows your front light to double as a flashlight.
CONS
If you’re doing a lot of night riding (like a long commute after work), these lights probably aren’t going to be enough for you. While they’ll save you in a pinch, the amount of road they illuminate won’t allow you to go very fast without putting your safety at risk.
CONSENSUS
If you’re looking for the cheapest way to make an unexpected night ride safer, these lights are fantastic. If you’re frequently riding at night, you’d be best suited to spend some more money and get something that is more luminous and has a rechargeable battery.
